Inspire! When we are inspired, we are at our best. Inspired ideas are so fresh, yet effortless that they seem to come from outside ourselves. We are inspired by the Holy Spirit; we are inspired by the examples of authentic people; we are inspired by beauty. It is a universal human experience.
Black History Month invites us to shift our perspective because so much history and culture is experienced from the lens of European people. We will be broadening our scope to celebrate those viewpoints we often overlook. And we will be richer for it!
How are we celebrating Black History Month?
- Through morning music, with a focus on Black Canadian Musicians
- prayer and announcements
- Posters reflecting our theme
- Class Workshops by Chris-Beth Cowie of Empowered for Excellence
- Black History Assembly for the whole school on February 23
