It is said that faith is caught, not taught. If we hope that our young people “catch” faith, adult faith must be contagious. To this end, Christ the King offered a staff twilight retreat on the theme of “Journey”. We spent several hours in the relaxing surroundings of Upper Canada College’s Outdoor Centre. A shared meal, fellowship, silent reflection on scripture and group discussion made for an evening that was spiritually and physically nourishing.
This semester we had five grade ten retreats, school wide prayer services for Ash Wednesday and the Easter Octave, a chapel mass and the Sacrament of Reconciliation for all religion classes. On the festive side, we celebrated Black History Month with “The Ultimate Black History Quiz” and a lively drumming presentation by the Pan Piper.
CtK’s Second Annual Thinkfast was held on March 4 to 5. About 35 students and 5 staff members fasted together, learned about the importance of water as a human right, and in the process, had a great time. Thinkfast generated almost two thousand dollars for Development and Peace. Kudos to the planning team – Lisa Sorensen, Lisa Lahue, Janine Hood and Janine Klarner. Tanya Mina was also an asset to the team, generously sharing her leadership knowledge. |
