Christ the King Students Protect the Environment...By Ms. Typer 2007-11-21
Christ the King Students Protect the Environment by participating in the Think Recycle Fundraising Program.
You recycle your cans, bottles, paper, and plastic bags.
Now you can add cell phones and printer cartridges to the list! Club Green is embarking on a partnership with Think Recycle, a community based, environmental fundraising program, created by Greentec. Students, Staff, and Community members can drop off their empty cartridges and cell phones in the school office to be collected and sent to Greentec for recycling. By doing so, Club Green can help divert some of the 300 million printer cartridges that are generated in North America each year, and generate funds for the school.
Additionally, Greentec donates one tree to the Tree Canada Foundation for every 12 qualifying cartridges or cell phones that Christ the King returns. The Think recycle program has been responsible for the planting of over 31,000 trees to date, removing 5400 tonnes of carbon from the atmosphere.
"Think Recycle ahs been successfully implemented in over 20,000 schools in North America, and we are pleased that Christ the King is now a part of our environmental family", said Tony Perotta, President of Greentec.
Based in Cambridge Ontario, the Think Recycle Program is a division of Greentec, a world leader in reverse logistics. It specializes in the collection and recycling on e-waste items such as printer cartridges and cell ones. Visit www.greentec.com for more information. |
