French Career DayBy Madame Brun del Re 2008-03-18
On February 12, 2008 our grade 9 (academic and extended) French classes participated in a French Career Day among other grade 9 students of Holy Trinity, Notre Dame and Bishop Reding Catholic Secondary Schools from our Halton Catholic District School Board.
The students had the opportunity to hear a vast variety of speakers who shared their own life experiences and discussed how the French language had played a major part in their lives and careers. Among them were a sergeant from the Canadian Armed Forces, a pharmacist, a pastor, a constable from RCMP, a manager from HSBC Insurance, a proofreader-desktop publishing specialist, a doctor, a translator and a HCDSB Human Resources teaching staff. They all mentioned how the knowledge of the French Language had put them into the job market and was a major stepping stone leading to their employment. Le message de cette journée: La connaissance d’une deuxième langue et de plusieures autres langues nous aide non seulement à communiquer avec d’autres personnes, mais de comprendre leur culture, leur façon de penser, de les accepter et de les aimer.
Congratulations/Félicitations to all our CtK grade 9 students who displayed a great interest and best behavior during this day.
Special Thanks to our CtK student volunteers Steven Kanichis et Scott Molley/ Un grand merci à nos étudiants bénévoles.
