Black History Month at CtKBy Ms. Lozowsky 2004-03-02
Black History Month culminated with our Celebrating Black History Performance on Monday February 23. The entertaining and informative “Pan Piper” treated a full theatre to a demonstration of the steel drum. Who knew an oil drum could become such an adaptable instrument! It is interesting to hear that the steel drum was invented because the skin drum was outlawed. Adversity brings forth creativity. Errol Lee followed with a high energy song and dance performance, including a special serenade for Ms Jenkins. His message to us – character counts. We are one family and each of us is worthy. Thanks to MAC for their work in presenting Black History Month. The performance, displays and Tell MAC contest were the result of their vision and work. We expect to build on this year’s success and celebrate Black History even more fully next February. |
