| PARENT ENGAGEMENT POLICY
Dear Parent(s)/Guardian(s):
Study after study has shown that student learning and achievement improve when parents play an active role in their
children's education and that good schools become even better when parents are involved.
Parents have a primary influence on their children's attitudes towards school, their learning, and their future
success. Research has shown that positive parental aspirations and expectations for their children's educational
achievement have strong relationships with children's actual achievement. The greater the support that families
provide for their children's learning and educational progress, the more likely that their children will do well in
school and continue on with their education.
To wit, Christ the King C.S.S. has created a Parent's Corner link on our school website. This link will contain
academic, spiritual, co-curricular and mental health information that parents can use in partnership with our Catholic
Learning Community to prepare our students to contribute richly to the intellectual, social, cultural and ethical life
of our society as faith-centered individuals. This link is part of one of our 2010-2011 School Improvement Plan's
SMART Goals.
"By 2011-2012, there will be a 5% increase in the number of parents who report high school-home connection as measured
by a composite score of items on the Halton Parent Survey."
We hope that you value this addition to our website. A survey will be sent electronically at the end of the year
asking for your feedback on our Parent's Corner.
Any questions, please feel free to call me at CtK.
Sincerely,
Mr. D. DeSantis
Principal
Christ the King C.S.S.
