History

The Phoenix was a mythical and sacred firebird in ancient Egyptian mythology.  Said to have lived for 1,461 years, the phoenix is a giant bird of dragon proportions with beautiful red and gold plumage.  Legends tell us that at the end of its life-cycle the phoenix builds itself a nest of cinnamon twigs that it then ignites.  In the ensuing fire, both the nest and the phoenix itself are consumed to ashes, from which a new, young phoenix arises.  The phoenix symbolizes COMPASSION as it possesses great healing powers through its tears, and through its heart shows the meaning of self-sacrifice for the right cause and the power of knowing that even the most troubled of lives can be resurrected and find new life.  We welcome all new members of PHOENIX HOUSE!  May your time here at Christ the King bring you to a greater understanding of what it means to be compassionate, and help you experience the healing power of this value.
